If someone would have told me, “In 20 years, you'll be at Roseland Ballroom in NYC putting on "a little strip show" with every one who's anyone on Broadway,” I would never have believed it.

If someone would have told me, “In 20 years, MAC Viva Glam and all the sponsors and volunteers will be up at the crack of dawn to get ready for ONE wild show tonight night to help raise money for BROADWAY CARES after spending weeks – months-- or even the entire year preparing for " a little strip show",” I never would have believed it.

If someone would have told me, “In 20 years, this little line of 400 people at Splash will turn into two sold out crowds of over 5,000 people coming to cheer on the entire THEATRICAL Community who, time and time again, give unconditionally to BC/ EFA and this “little strip show",” I never would have believed it.

If someone would have told me, “20 years from now, you will be stetting a goal to raise one million dollars and that this "little strip show" since its inception would raise more than 7 million dollars for Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS,” I never would have believed it.

Well, seeing is believing and no one has to tell me because tonight it will all come true. Everyone loves to see things grow and grow we have!

Needless to say, I am blessed and grateful to be surrounded by such passionate people -- stagehands, designers, wardrobe, dancers, technicians, Josh Rhodes ( tonight’s glorious Director) and his team -- you name it! Michael Graziano and the entire team at BC/EFA have as always made BROADWAY BARES a success.

Helping bring in the BIG BUCKS to try for our BIG GOAL of raising 1 million dollars has also brought in help from the touring companies , Peepshow in Vegas, and, come September, my friends in London will be doing their first BARES.

If some one would have told me, “In 20 years this "little strip show" would have global appeal , its own web site (what’s a website) its own book and tonight its own CD I never.........!!!!!

And we’re still here making our original 2 most important points:

1- to raise money and provide an affordable ticket for everyone in the community to feel like they can give back and 2- to allow people to connect again and be SAFE and feel sexy and good about themselves.

Well believe it folks. Together we have done it and we will continue to do it.

BC/EFA and I have set the goal of raising one million dollars at this year's Broadway Bares in honor of its 20th year. To kick this off, we are going back to Splash for Solo Strips, which is inspired by the first Bares. Our tag line for Solo Strips is "Feels Like The First Time."

Most importantly is, in order to reach the million dollar goal, I am asking gypsies everywhere to use the original idea for Broadway Bares to help us raise the million dollars. Gypsies, everywhere, join us! Do a strip show on the road, in Des Moines, anywhere you can and send the money in to BC/EFA. We'll be having a thermometer on the Bares website to keep track of our goal as we approach June 20th.
