History
Broadway Bares II
Directed by Jerry Mitchell
Six months after its debut, Broadway Bares was back by popular demand. This time around, it was at Shout, a larger bar complete with a spotlight and a postage stamp-sized stage. There were even a few of Broadway’s female beauties added to the mix. Would the mostly gay crowd go for showgirls? You betcha! The cheers were just as loud for the gals as for the guys. But the cheers were loudest during the opening number when the DJ accidentally hit the “off” button on the tape player. The dancers froze in place. Jerry Mitchell frantically yelled “Turn it back on!” The song finally started again, and the dancers stepped into their choreography in perfect time with the music. Twice as many dollars were stuffed into G-strings that night in appreciation!
